First pinhole camera photos September 29th 2021

First day of pinhole camera trials was a success. I wasn't sure if my camera would work I was worried I would need tin foil but it worked on the first try which was incredible. I am really happy with how all of them turned out, I think they are really cool. It was my first time watching film develop which was really neat. The title of my project is imperfections stay tuned to see why!

Photo 1, 2 seconds: My very first pinhole photo ever (amazing!!) Outside on the 6th floor patio. I was so stoked that it worked! It was so amazing watching the developer for the first time.
Photo 2, 5 seconds: In a similar spot to photo 1. Do you feel like you are shooting in a space ship, because that's the vibe I get.
Photo 3, 6 seconds: Outside the same balcony over the side tho, I love the way the circle of the pinhole translates to the photo. I also love the happy little trees.
Photo 4, 6 seconds: Outside on the 7th floor patio towards lamp post and bushes (obviously)
Photo 5, 9 seconds: Still increasing length of time or trying to, filling up more of the piece of paper by waiting longer.
Photo 6, 15 seconds: I really like what the trees look like, almost blood vessels or something? nature is amazing!
Photo 7, 12 seconds: First self portrait! I love the way my shirt looks and the way my arms look.
Photo 8, 18 seconds: This one was taken with a mask on and hair down. It almost looks like I'm wearing a gas mask.
Photo 9, 18 seconds: Picture of the coulees and the university to the left, it kind of looks like you just landed on another planet
Photo 10, 15 seconds

The self portraits gave me the idea to lay down on the ground and take a picture that way and also to take more pictures from the sky down so I will do that the next time I take pictures.

Sequence, assignment 4

I did two sequences because one of them was reliant on the weather, the first one is of three trees, one with its leaves, one without leaves and one with snow on it.  The second sequence is of my cat, she is inside then outside roaming around in the other photos.  I really enjoyed working on this project, I found waiting for the perfect weather to get the tree photos was a lot of fun.

Monologue and final project #3

In this project I embrace the messiness that is every day life. The monologue that we had to read for this project talked about the complexity and fluidity of identity. That is why I chose my partner who is non binary and uses they them pronouns as the subject for this piece. It incorporates the idea that there is binary thinking in the world. There is binary thinking but that does not mean we should be thinking as everyone else does. The monologue challenges the notion of fixed categories, this piece embraces the spectrum between chaos. Hugo also speaks to the past, present and future. In these pictures you can depict what happened in the past to make the space the way that it is you can anticipate what is going to happen in the future either a messier room or cleaning of the room and you see what is going on at the moment with the subject doing different activities in the space.  I asked my partner for an interpretation of the monologue because they were the subject and I wanted ...

Final photo book

The photo book, candidly queer is a journey through the lives of queer people in southern Alberta. This book shows the different faces of queer individuals. Almost every page in the book is a different format, this is to highlight the differences within the queer community and highlight the nuances of being a queer person and how it strays away from society.  Ellie Saunders (she/they) Candidly queer  A collection of 2SLGBTQ+ portraits Candidly queer is a photo book built to show the diversity of queer faces and the different identities that can be shown within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The way this photo book is put together is meant to highlight those points exactly. Pages are all different and are that way to show that no two individuals are the same. For this project I have tried my best to capture individuals in the way that they are most comfortable.    I have many people to thank for being part of this project, My friends, partners, family and...
